A Stroll through Central Park at Sea!

On our recent trip on board the Oasis of the Seas mega ship with Royal Caribbean International, I would often take a stroll through Central Park, at Sea! On the 8th floor of the ship, I was at first welcomed to an environment of greenery with benches to take a rest and enjoy the calm scenery. Moreover, while other guests were enjoying the hustle and bustle of the pool areas and the daily entertainment, I found my sanctuary in the calm atmosphere. Central Park on board the Oasis of the Seas was my go to place when I needed a little “me time.” Aside from simply enjoying the open-air gardens and birds, there are also various shoppes and restaurants to enjoy.

The Shoppes of Central Park at Sea

Hidden among the trees and vine-covered trellises of Central Park, several quaint shoppes are discovered. The “Picture This Portrait Studio” serves to capture those family memories on board the ship. Perhaps an accessory or two is what you fancy (for me, that is usually four or more… joke). Be sure to check out the Coach brand store and Tiffany & Co. to see their displayed beauties. Don’t forget to drop a note to Tiffany in her mailbox with your “wish list.” Furthermore, she will send a hint to your significant other for you on the ship! In addition, purchases on board are duty and tax free! Hours of operation are posted on the Cruise Compass publication left in your stateroom each evening. Hours are also posted at each establishment.

The Restaurants and Wine Bar of Central Park at Sea

There are several options to grab a tasty bite or savor some flavorful wine in Central Park at sea. Chops steakhouse offers a variety of starters, entrees and sides. If you desire food with an Italian flair, then have a seat at Giovanni’s Table. Make sure you leave room for something delectable from Giovanni’s dessert cart! I get weak in the knees for a good Canoli, and Giovanni’s Table is sure to please. It is important to note that most “specialty” restaurants located in Central Park charge an additional fee to dine and are not included in the cruise fare (unless otherwise stated as part of a package or promotion). One must not forget the Wine Bar in Central Park called Vintages. Not to mention, the selection seemed endless for wine lovers, coupled with an on point atmosphere.

The Park Cafe of Central Park at Seas

Furthermore, my personal favorite for dining in Central Park was the Park Cafe. Here is where I grabbed a quick bite to eat for breakfast from assorted made-to-order and pre-made selections. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches and burritos. For lunch, I often grabbed some snacks on the go and left room for the extensive dinners in the main dining room on the ship. I highly recommend the egg salad and tuna salad sandwiches from the Cafe. They tasted delicious and were just enough to hold me over for an afternoon craving. The best part of Park Cafe was that most items were covered with the cruise fare at no extra charge. Specialty coffees are also offered at the Park Cafe for an additional fee.

In conclusion, when you venture on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas mega ship, take a stroll through Central Park on Deck 8. Here you will experience an industry first with its open-air gardens and solarium.Β  Photos really do not do this beautiful masterpiece justice. As a result, I am confident you will find it is even more beautiful in person. In addition, the ship offers balcony state rooms that overlook the Park, so you can enjoy the nature on a whim! The ambiance at night is even more breath-taking. In the evening, you will often find soft lighting and serene music playing in the Park. Stop, take a seat, and take it all in. The sights and sounds of nature will surround you. You may even forget for a moment that you are actually in the center of a massive vessel on the water.

  1. I’m not really a cruise person in general, and I had no idea this ship was big enough to accommodate something like this! I may even enjoy a cruise like this and not feel stir crazy by being stuck on a boat!

  2. It’s amazing to me that this is inside a cruise ship! I have only been on a cruise once and it was a very small cruise. I just love all the greenery in Central Park at the Sea. I would love to cruise on this ship.

  3. How beautiful! It’s like walking in a town! Would love to go on a cruise one day, seems like such a different and cool trip!

  4. One of the things on my bucket list is a cruise trip. The Oasis of the seas sounds so fascinating . Especially how you describe the calm scenery, birds and all. Am also one who seeks out quiet spots for β€œme time,” as opposed to the hustle + bustle.

    1. I have been on several cruises, but this was a first on this ship and I was amazed at how the design of the ship actually makes you forget that you are actually on a ship. The attention to details is like no other.

  5. Beautiful! We went of the Allure of the Seas several years ago and I was just taken back at how amazing Central Park was!! Looks like you had a fantastic trip!

    1. I would suggest you try at least one! I was afraid I would get sick, as I easily get car sick and motion sickness. To my surprise, and probably because of how large these ships are, I didn’t get sick at all. Even during higher speeds with rougher waters.

  6. Have not wanted to go on the cruise ship because of all the hustle and bustle, but this one looks different/way better. All the trees and green space mixed with the ocean air!

  7. We have not been on a cruise, and I did not even think about that there might be a small town on a cruise ship. It makes sense, though. What an interesting experience that must be. Thank you for sharing a peak.

    1. This was my first experience with the open air concept in the center of the ship. I have stayed in rooms that have overlooked the promenade but this was still enclosed. The open air feeling added to the overall scale of the ship and the massive feel.

  8. We LOVE cruises, but have yet to go on Royal Caribbean. Super jealous! My parents go the end of this year so I look forward to seeing what they think too. The ship looks gorgeous. If the food and entertainment are on par I’m set.

  9. I had no idea this existed! Looks like something I need to add to my bucket list. So neat! This is what I love about bloggers, it’s a chance to learn so many new places and adventures to go on around the world! Thank you for sharing!

  10. Cruising has always sounded a little claustrophobic to me. I prefer wide open spaces and privacy. But this looks amazing. My husband and I are both celebrating our 40th birthdays this year as well as our 20th anniversary. I told him we need to book a cruise!

  11. Wow this ship looks amazing!! I’ve never heard of it before! Totally makes me want to go on a vacation ASAP πŸ™‚ Buuuut I have a 2 year old and a newborn so it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen anytime in the near future lol. But hey a girl can dream right?
